Mike is 31 years old and grew up living in various towns in Texas and California. Mike became a Christian in high school while living in Post, Texas. After domestic summer mission trips to South Dakota and Wyoming, Mike decided that he wanted to devote his life to mission work.

One year after Mike graduated from high school, he enrolled in the Adventures in Missions (AIM) program at Sunset International Bible Institute (SIBI). He was sent with a team of three others to Moscow, Russia, where he spent 18 months as an apprentice missionary. After Mike’s AIM time was completed, he continued his studies in the two-year program at SIBI, where he followed the missions track program. During his two years at SIBI, Mike worked as an assistant to the director of AIM. Mike was a Youth Minister Intern in The Woodlands, TX for one summer. He also led a Let’s Start Talking team from Sunset Church of Christ to Moscow, Russia in the summer of 2003. Mike also preached for the Church of Christ in Tarzan, Texas for one year. Mike earned his degree from Texas Tech University, where he graduated with a degree in History and a minor in Russian Language. He is also a graduate of SIBI’s Advanced Missions program.

Lucy is 28 years old and was born and raised in Lubbock, TX. Lucy grew up attending Sunset Church of Christ, where her father has served as an elder for 10 years. Growing up at Sunset, Lucy was active in the youth and deaf ministries, and participated annually in Leadership Training for Christ (LTC). Lucy became a Christian at 13 years of age at Sunset.

Since Lucy was 8 years old, she has had her heart set on mission work. In order to help her in this dream, Lucy attended the AIM program where she spent 18 months in Mexico City as an apprentice missionary. While in Mexico, Lucy became fluent in Spanish as well as Spanish Sign Language. Upon completion of her AIM time, Lucy returned to Lubbock to attend Lubbock Christian University where she earned her degree in Early Childhood Education. In addition, she helped with an LCU summer program in Mexico City and Cuernavaca, Mexico. While at LCU, Lucy worked for one year as an assistant to the director of AIM and participated in a Let’s Start Talking campaign to Moscow, Russia.

Mike and Lucy have been married for 6 years and have a 3 year old son named Canaan and a 1 year old son named Max.
